Faculty & Staff at ACA
I graduated from God’s Bible School and College in 2006 with a BA in education. Prior to my employment at ACA, I worked in the student recruitment office of GBS.
I am passionate about developing leaders through Christian education. Since 2012, I have taught history and Spanish courses in the HS department of ACA. For the 2017-18 school year, I transitioned into an administrative position as the Principal of ACA.
In my free time, I enjoy sports, playing golf and spending time with my wife and daughters.
I began working at ACA in 2005 as a Computer teacher and receptionist. In 2007, I transitioned into my current position as Administrative Assistant.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a minor in Business Administration from Southern Wesleyan University.
In my free time, I enjoy drawing/doodling, spending time with friends and family, playing the piano, listening to music. I am also actively involved in ministry at my church and I enjoy serving the Lord.
High School Secretary
Ellen Bishop (AA ’13) is the new high school secretary for Aldersgate Christian Academy. Ellen spent the last few years working for Chick-fil-A in Mesa, AZ, where she developed their leadership training program before moving to Kentucky where she participated in their Transformational Leadership program.
“I am enjoying working in the high school. I have an awesome leader and the kids are great! I am thankful for the Lord’s leading in my life, and I am excited that He brought me to ACA. I look forward to seeing what God is going to do in the school this year!”
My name is Lindsay Rose and I was born and raised in Burlington Kentucky. I came to Christ at age 13 and have continued my journey with God every day! In elementary, I went to Aldersgate Christian Academy, Homeschooled for four years, then graduated again at Aldersgate!
After taking a year off to pray and think about what I wanted to do with my future, I felt led to go into teaching. I looked around at the T.E. Programs in colleges near me.
After again praying about which college to choose, God opened doors for me at God’s Bible School and College, so I attended and am now a Graduate with a B.A. in Elementary Education.
It has been an amazing experience and God has helped me through every step from beginning till now! As I start my teaching Journey I know and trust God will be there as well!!
1st & 2nd Grade Teacher
I am a 1997 graduate of God’s Bible School and College with a double BA major in Elementary education and Music education.
As a pastor’s wife and mother of three, I am involved in a variety of ministry and family activities.
I enjoy reading, cooking, baking, running half marathons and serving Jesus! Through an organized classroom, I present detailed learning environment that students enjoy. I enjoy offering students the opportunity to learn through a variety of resources and activities.
3rd & 4th Grade Teacher
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Music and Classroom Education, and a Masters degree in Elementary Education. Being a teacher has been my dream career since I was probably 4 years old!
My favorite hobby has changed with each stage of my life, so these days it is spending time with my husband and daughter and son, playing, laughing, and being silly together.
I can’t say that I have a very favorite Bible verse, but I like to memorize Scripture verses about doctrinal issues, and verses that are encouraging or personally convicting. Right now I am working to memorize Romans 8:12-17.
I graduated in May from God’s Bible School and College with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and I am excited about the opportunity to work at ACA and help develop leaders to positively impact their world.
Teaching has been a dream of mine since elementary school! I have many hobbies, but traveling and working with children around the world is one of my favorite. I love learning, teaching, and serving Jesus!
Junior High Math Teacher
I serve as the Bible teacher for the seventh grade as well as math for grades five through eight. I have taught about 40 years in Christian education and am currently beginning my twelfth year at ACA.
As a teenager, I felt God’s call to teach in Christian education and I have endeavored to fulfill that call. It has been a privilege to teach the many students that have passed through my classroom.
I have a B.A. degree from Western Washington University and 50 graduate credits from Pittsburg State University. I have been state certified to teach secondary math and social studies including history, government and psychology.
Junior High Science & Social Science Teacher
I have a BA in Music and classroom Education from God’s Bible School and College. I have taught 1st and 2nd grade for 3 years at Independence Bible School in Kansas. I am looking forward to teaching middles school grades and getting to know the students and their families.
In the summertime, I enjoy traveling and going on mission trips when possible. Some hobbies I enjoy are photography, playing the piano and flute, and singing. I am amazed at the ways God has used these talents and passions in many different capacities to minister to others.
One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 41:10:
“Fear not, for I am with Thee.
Be not dismayed; for I am thy God.
I will strengthen Thee; ye, I will help Thee, ye I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Junior High English Teacher
I graduated this past May from God’s Bible School and College with a degree in Integrative Studies focusing in Modern Languages and Foundations of Language.
I love studying foreign languages, and have studied at least a little of the following: Koine Greek, Japanese, Spanish, and German. It should come as no surprise, since I teach English, but I love to read and write.
One of my favorite things to do is find a new coffee shop where I can work on lesson plans, study, or read. One of my favorite verses would probably be II Corinthians 12:9, because I need the reminder that I need Christ’s power to do anything.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
High School Teachers
High School Math Teacher
John S. Burroughs, incoming High School Math Teacher for Aldersgate Christian Academy (ACA), graduated (GBS HS, ’73) and earned his BA in Education (GBS College, ’77) and later, his MM in Pastoral Ministry (Mount Vernon Nazarene College, ’95). Pastor Burroughs is currently the lead pastor of Heritage Bible Church in Marion, Ohio, and also is thrilled to minister alongside the ACA team beginning this fall.
High School Social Studies Teacher
Since graduating from Hobe Sound Bible College with a degree in Elementary Education, I have spent more than ten years in elementary and high school classrooms.
After recognizing that many Christian schools had students with learning challenges, but few resources to help those same students, I completed my master’s degree in special education at Indiana Wesleyan University. My passion is to help students with learning challenges reach their full academic potential in a Christian school setting.
I have been married to Chad since 2005. Our ministries have included serving as pastor and wife for more than ten years, as well as fostering children in our home. We are currently in the process of adopting two children.
Galatians 2:20 is the verse that has had the most impact on my life. It says,
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live;
yet not I, but Christ in me.”

She actively promotes fine arts in the community as the children’s music director at Kenwood Bible Methodist church and as a member of both the Cincinnati Community Orchestra and Eastside Players Community Theater. She is also the string conductor at the Garen Wolf School of Music Band Camp.
David Hartkopf (College Instructor, Director of Bands and Professor of Trumpet) has been employed at GBSC since the fall of 2009. His early training on trumpet came from Gordon Simmons, a fine mentor and professional player in Detroit, MI.
Since then, David has had lessons and training with Phil Collins, Alan Siebert, James Olcott, and Bill Adam. Additionally, David has studied conducting with Gary Speck, director of bands at Miami University.
In addition to his teaching and conducting responsibilities on campus at GBSC, David regularly works around the Cincinnati area as a trumpet teacher, gives trumpet master-classes, and plays his trumpet professionally. He has performed with the Middletown Symphony, the Miami University Faculty Brass Quintet, and for various Musicals in the tri-state area.
Besides this, David also plays in his brass quintet with a group of local Cincinnati professionals. He was also invited to conduct the audition-only all-state North Carolina Christian School Honor Band at the North Carolina Center for the Performing Arts during November 2012.
David is also the worship pastor at the Kenwood Bible Methodist Church. However, David’s greatest joy and passion above music and teachable students is being a devoted husband to his wife Jessica and a great dad to his little girl Mallory.
